The 2014 Toyota Auris (pictured) gets a bit of a makeover
Toyota has decided it’s time to make a few tweaks to the Auris – nearly 2 years on from its debut – so both the Hatch and Estate are getting changes, the hybrid version gets more trim options and there’s a new trim level – Auris Icon Plus. The Auris Icon Plus comes with a new set of 16″ alloys, privacy glass, folding electric door mirrors and the option of a new Tungsten Blue Metallic. Inside, the Icon Plus gets heated front sports seats, the new Toyota Touch 2 with SatNav and cruise control (but only on the petrol and hybrid versions.

Nissan today revealed it had smashed its own internal lap record of the Nurburgring in the new R35 GT-R. For some this is manna from anorak heaven; of course, others will dismiss it as yet more hype about a rare-groove racetrack with little relevance to the man on the street. Whatever your view, it’s still pretty impressive.
Richard Hammond has wrecked his Morgan Aeromax in a prang in Gloucestershire
The Hamster was apparently on his way back from a flying lesson (look out for the Hamster and Captain Slow in flying washing machines in the next series of Top Gear, then) when a car braked sharply at a roundabout at Over, in Gloucestershire. The resulting four car shunt – with the Hamster at the back – ended up with much swapping of details, but no injuries. And Hammond came off least worse being at the back.
